One kind of satisfying thing about living in the PNW is that when fall hits it’s not fucking around. In Virginia it can take forever to feel like it’s actually fall but here, it’s like someone flips a switch. I am definitely a summer person (SUNNY AND WARM YES THANK YOU) but I do love dressing for fall. It’s something for me to look forward to because it sure ain’t the pumpkin spice, endless rain and shorter days. Anyway, the switch seems to have been flipped and now I have a whole list of things I want to buy for fall.
To start, I’ve been trying to up my sweater game and I’m deeply obsessed with my friend Marianne’s cropped cashmere Jenni Kayne cardigan. It’s luscious and I really want one. I did manage to find the longer version on eBay a while back and I love it even though it makes me look like I’m wearing a very soft and luxurious potato sack. The cropped version seems more wearable and less sacky but there are none currently available secondhand. So…
Instead of being patient I bought the Quince version because they’ve come out with “cashmere 2.0” which promises to be less shitty than their previous cashmere1.
I also pre-ordered Everlane’s cotton version in this very excellent scarab green because I am SO INTO this color. I’m excited that dark green and burgundy are everywhere this fall! I’ll report back on both.
I really want a pair of shoes that are not sneakers or Birkenstocks. What I’d ideally like is a pair of Gucci loafers but even secondhand they’re way too much money to risk on a previously broken foot that rejects certain shoes outright. Like, right now my foot is saying no to my beloved Blundstone Chelsea boots but yes to my Everlane Day Glove flats. It’s a crapshoot. So, I think I’ll give the Sam Edelman Loraine a try as they’re very similar in style to the Gucci loafers but at a much more reasonable price.
I’ve been eyeing and finally ordered these Madewell pants that were recently featured on GOACA. I love a utility style and the straight leg is appealing. Wouldn’t they be cute with (not Gucci) loafers and a (not Jenni Kayne) cardigan sweater? Plus, they’re a dead ringer for the Nili Lotan Jenna pants and I’m low-level obsessed with Nili Lotan even though I can’t afford any of it. Please note: I don’t actually need more pants but that never stopped me.
Okay, you know how I said I don’t want more Birkenstocks? Just kidding. My current Birkenstock Boston shearling clogs are completely trashed and I’ve been wearing them as house shoes for the last couple of years. I think it’s time for a new pair that I could actually wear out in public. I just need to decide on a color. Maybe the mocha?
I have a real love/hate thing with Quince cashmere. The $50 crewneck sweaters are perfectly fine for the price but I’m kind of mad that my more expensive boyfriend cardigan pilled up like crazy and now looks like a droopy rag. My pill shaver doesn’t even make a dent. Their new-and-improved cashmere launch is giving me hope. I’ll report back.
If anyone is looking for a similar type crop sweater at a reduced price point, Old Navy has this style in several colors. I grabbed a couple to have on hand.
Right? My Bostons are gross but they're so spendy that I can't justify a new pair AND a pair of loafers. Thinking about these cute cheapies: https://www.dsw.com/product/kelly-and-katie-bala-loafer/559603?activeColor=007
