It’s been a hell of a month so far so I’m going to tell you about some of the things that are helping me feel and look better.
Jones Road Just Enough tinted moisturizer
I recently used up my second jar of What The Foundation which freed me up to try the new Jones Road Just Enough tinted moisturizer. It’s great! It’s light coverage and just evens things out without being too…anything. At some point regular liquid foundation just stopped working for me - it creases, it flakes, it looks awful. This stuff gives me a glow, evens out redness and doesn’t look obvious. Paired with a really good concealer its working way better for me than traditional foundation.
Also, this tinted moisturizer doesn’t have SPF in it which seems to have unhinged people. Listen, you do not want to rely on the tiny amount of SPF that might be in your foundation or moisturizer because it’s not ever going to be enough coverage. Apply your SPF first, then your foundation. I’m wildly allergic to a lot of sunscreen ingredients anyway so I’m always happy when face products don’t include SPF. Related, my favorite mineral sunscreen is this one from Isdin, which is very good but very expensive. It’s often on sale at Amazon and right now it’s 25% off on the brand website.
Good Hang Podcast
This is Amy Poehler’s new podcast and she opens with “I don’t have any advice for you, I just want us to have fun.” Perfect. It’s very celebrity-centric which isn’t always my thing but so far it’s down-to-earth and charming. The first episode’s guest is Tina Fey (delightful) and I also loved the Quinta Brunson episode. This is, so far, a reliably entertaining celebrity podcast that features really excellent guests and thankfully isn’t a bro-fest. I listen on my commute but you can also watch the episodes on Youtube. (I linked the first episode and it’s worth watching for the Dratch of it all.)
These Vuori pullovers
I have two of these Vuori Long Sleeve Halo Crew pullovers and they’re a wardrobe staple. I’ve had them for several years and they’re still going strong - they don’t pill or lose their shape and you can even put them in the dryer (on low heat, let’s not get crazy.) The Halo pullover is perfect for the WHY WON’T SUMMER START ALREADY days where you need long sleeves but nothing too heavy. They are comfortable and cute and hang perfectly without being too clingy or boxy. I wear them as casual wear, to the gym, on an airplane, whatever. It’s just one of those items of clothing that is exactly right and that’s pretty rare. (Pro tip - the price has gone up since I bought mine but if you have an REI membership, wait for a 20% off coupon. Vuori also has a first purchase 20% off discount!)
PS. Quince has a dupe (because of course they do) but I haven’t tried it but people seem to like this one, so maybe it’s a winner.
Am I Being Unreasonable?
This is a show that I haven’t fully made up my mind about yet but it’s compulsively watchable and it gets really weird, really fast. It starts off feeling like a quirky British romantic comedy and quickly veers into a thriller territory. It’s the kind of show where you’re not sure who to believe or who you can trust. It’s also funny, shocking, and ridiculous in turns. Some episodes show the same events from different viewpoints, which adds to the unreliable narrator trope. There are only two seasons and I have a few episodes left to watch, but it is a RIDE. Currently airing on Hulu, btw.
Thanks for the sunscreen reminder—I rely on my tinted Supergoop a little too much.
Ooh, that show looks fun! Adding it to my list. And thanks for the review of the Jones Road tinted moisturizer. I am also liking What The Foundation & want to try the tinted moisturizer.
